Every week during the 2017 season, we’ll check in with California’s five MLB teams. Who’s up? Who’s down? Who has the cheapest ticket this week and who will play in the best series? The Golden State is home to the best position player in baseball, the sport’s best pitcher, and the 25 “GOLF ONLY” members at Torrey Pines who play for the Padres.
Best Record Last Week: San Diego Padres 4-2.
Worst Record Last Week: San Francisco Giants 1-5.
Best Attendance (cumulative avg.): Los Angeles Dodgers, 44,637.
Worst Attendance (cumulative avg.): Oakland, 17,111*.
*In a momentous shift, the A’s have moved out of the last-place spot in overall attendance for the first time this season. The Rays now occupy the cellar.

Fat Albert hits No. 600 on a grand slam home run because this sport is nothing if not cinematic. Enjoy the last Halos highlight for the next seven weeks.

Gob Bluth’s Huge Mistake of the Week:
Watch at 10 seconds as Mike Morse (No. 38) gets laid out by Jeff Samardzija in the Giants’ profoundly stupid Monday fight against the Nationals. If you’re charging a baseball dogpile, be sure to avoid the former D1 football player.
Cheapest Ticket This Week: Nats @ Dodgers $6.
California Series to Watch: Nationals @ Dodgers. The Nats are the surefire, no-questions-asked kings of the east. They might win that division by 21 games. The Dodgers are in a three-way dogfight with the Rockies and Diamondbacks. However, iron sharpens iron, and I think the Dodgers are better prepared to win any games in this series that are close. Get to Chavez this week if you can.
Athletics: 6/5-6/7 vs. Blue Jays, 6/9-6/11 @ Rays.
Giants: 6/5-6/8 @ Brewers, 6/9-6/11 vs. Minnesota.
Dodgers: 6/5-6/7 vs. Nationals, 6/9-6/11 vs. Reds.
Angels: 6/6-6/8 @ Tigers, 6/9-6/11 @ Astros.
Padres: 6/6-6/8 @ Diamondbacks, 6/9-6/11 vs. Royals.
Home series in bold.
